Grapefruit (Citrus x paradise)

Essential oil is obtained from the cold expression of the peel from the fresh fruit. It is a very cooling, cleansing, and decongesting oil, just like lemon. It has been suggested that it helps with a sluggish lymphatic system. It may help to relieve abdominal distention, constipation, and nausea. A mild diuretic and stimulant to the spleen and lymph, this oil helps the body eliminate excess fluids and break down fats. On a psychological level, Grapefruit helps with tension, frustration, irritability, and moodiness. This oil is particularly suited for those individuals who are tense or under pressure. Like lemon, it promotes a lightness of spirit.
